goowy – your personal webtop April 29, 2006

Goowy, built primarily with Flash for rendering of the user interface, integrates features such as online file storage, email, and instant messaging to provide a unique user experience. Goowy provides features such as:

  • Instant Messaging from AOL, Yahoo, MSN, and icq.
  • 1GB of free online file storage provided by box.net
  • 2GB of email space with ability to access your Hotmail and Gmail accounts.
  • Built in Calendar and Contact system with ability to import contacts.
  • Widget system called "Minis"

To view a photo set of goowys features, click here.

At first, I thought the service was flawless (which anything hardly is). After a while, I noticed no multi-window support. I could not have my Buddy List and my feed window up at the same time. Also, there are not any close buttons for Email, Calendar, and Contacts, which really brought down Goowy's overall score with me. Though the service does provide some nice features, the overall lacking of a proper close button, and multi-window support causes goowy to get a four out of ten.

It can be used to circumvent censorship firewalls, like at work or in China. It can be used to bypass paying for internet access at a wifi cafe. It can be used at school computers so you can get full access to the internet. And best of all, if there is no key loggers secretly installed on the machine, nobody is going to know where you went, what you saw, who you spoke to, or what you said. It is all encrypted in a tunnel between your computer, and at least three others somewhere in the world. Only after your data has passed through the encrypted and constantly changing tunnel (a tor circuit) will it reach the internet as unencrypted. The data from surfing the internet goes through the same tunnel as well, passing back to you encrypted, where your computer uses Tor to decrypt it to the Torpark browser. When you need a secret and secure tunnel to surf the internet, Torpark is your mobile solution.

TorPark FAQ

I shall download this and try it out at school on Monday, and then report back here and tell y’all how it works!

firstcorpse? WTF? February 28, 2006

Ok, I have gotten tired of people asking me "what does [firstcorpse] mean?" This is to end all of that.

The name firstcorpse is derived from My Chemical Romances storyline for their album, "Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge". The story is about a man and his wife who get seperated by death in a gunfight. The man goes to hell only to find out from the Devil that his wife is still alive. The Devil promises him that he can see his wife if he brings him the souls of a thousand evil men. "fistcorpse" relates to the first evil man that the man kills.

I entered the UNEASYsilence iPod contest on Friday, Feb. 3rd. That was one week before the announcement of the first round of iPod winners. Since then, I have:

  • Created a banner, located here
  • Attempted a Wiki on UNEASYsilence . . .
  • Attempted to bring the contest to my school . . .
  • Created a fake crop circle article, will post later
  • Made 5 T-Shirts with the UNEASYsilence kubrick header, located here

It is now 6:46 PM, on Monday, Feb. 13th, and I am still waiting to see if I’ve won. I am hoping to come out of this contest with an iPod Nano, but I will come out with shot nerves, and a bad case of anexity . . .

Well, It’s been a while since I updated with a blog post, so here you go.

Yesterday, I had free dress day at school and i wore my AE Jeans, a white undershirt, a  AE blue long sleeve button-up, and my Leather Jacket, and I got a lot of compliments. As Always, I had no clue what was happening in Algebra, had a heated debate in Pre-Law, Played Human Chess in PE (like chess but with people), and can’t remember what happened in Literature. Then, I went to the library to check out books on the Bermuda Triangle, but there weren’t any. Then went to my Dads house, and dindt go to sleep till 2AM.

Today, I went to Tristens Tae Kwon Test, and she did really good. And then there was this one girl who beat the crap out of this 5th degree blackbelt. Funny… Thern we ate at chilis, then I came home and took a 6 hour nap. Now, Im writing this post in hopes that you will read it!
